Home Matters

Our home is an extension of who we are. When our home is free from dust and clutter, we are more free to explore new adventures.

Home is where our story begins. – unknown

Look around the room you are in right now. What is the mood? Where do you feel this room in your body? Is it light or dark, light or heavy? Take a walk around the rest of the house and ask these same questions.

“Design is coming to grips with one’s real lifestyle, one’s real place in the world. Rooms should not be put together for show but to nourish one’s well-being.” —Albert Hadley

One Drawer, One Cabinet, or One Closet for One Hour

Dedicate a time this week to spend one hour on a drawer, cabinet, or closet in your home. Choose one that can be decluttered in 60 minutes or less. Take everything out of the container. Clean the location. Decide the purpose of this container, making sure it is truly being used for that purpose. Recycle or Throw away broken items. Find a box or tub to begin a donate pile. Begin neatly putting back ONLY the items that serve the purpose you intend for this space. Take a picture of your accomplishment. Get a drink of water; you have worked hard!

Beginning the Decluttering Process:

Walk around your house and find FIVE items that are broken or no longer serve you. Say goodbye to them and get rid of them responsibly.
